Toddler Elizabeth...sneaking peeks!
This is me. I was born Elizabeth Merry Hartman on August 5, 1969. (Yes, I just got busted sneaking a peak at a Christmas present.)
I was born in Ohio and moved to West Virginia when I was less than two weeks old. My uncle (funny, funny guy) made the observation that it was a shame to turn a Buckeye into a Grit.
Hence the childhood nickname...Grit...a name that has spawned more questions than the White House Press Corps.
I grew up in Middlebourne, WV. It's a tiny town. It has no red lights. No fast food. It's the kind of town where everyone knows everybody. And in my youth...I hated that. Especially when my mom would go for her mail* at the post office and spend her morning catching up on gossip and hearing all about what happened over the weekend. When she got back and Elizabeth Merry were the first words out of her mouth, I knew I was on lock down for at least a week.

Happily, happily...I went off to college at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. There I was a resident advisor. The boss warned us, "Get used to living in a fish bowl and be accountable for your every behavior"...I was good to go...I was used to small town, glass house living! I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Counseling and Rehabilitation, went to work at Youth Services System, Inc., moved to New Martinsville and got married to my husband Chad, all in the same week.
eseckman.blogspot.com/I am the mother of four boys who have brought home way too many pets and I'm happily married to a great guy who knows he is the hero of my story. Currently, I spend my days telling lies and hanging out with make-believe people, which I call writing.
Alicia and Caleb. Carter, Conner, and Cole.
My husband, Chad & me with Artemis.
